Short answer: keep pre-rolls, flower and Sno Caps in an airtight container, somewhere cool, dark and dry, at moderate humidity. Keep tubes sealed, handle Sno Caps gently and skip the fridge, freezer and any hot spot.

Hemp flower is a plant product. Air, light, heat and moisture all change it over time. Good storage helps keep aroma, flavor and texture closer to how they were on day one. None of this is complicated. It mostly comes down to a good container and a good spot. This guide covers our pre-rolls, flower and Sno Caps. It's for adults 21+.

The four things that wear flower down

  • Air. Oxygen slowly breaks down the compounds behind aroma and flavor. Open containers also let flower dry out.
  • Light. UV light is widely reported to degrade cannabinoids and terpenes. Clear jars on a sunny windowsill are a bad idea.
  • Heat. Warm spots speed up drying and can make flower sticky or harsh.
  • Moisture swings. Too dry and it crumbles and burns fast. Too damp and you risk mold.

Handle those four and you've handled most of it.

Use an airtight container

Your first line of defense is the package it came in. Our THCA Flower comes in a 2g tube or a 3.5g bag. Pre-rolls come in their own tubes. Keep them closed between uses.

  • Tubes: press the cap on firmly after every use. A half-closed tube lets air in all day.
  • Bags: press out extra air before you reseal. If the seal wears out, move the flower to a jar.
  • Glass jars: an airtight glass jar with a good seal is a solid long-term option. Amber or opaque glass helps block light.
  • Size it right: a small amount of flower in a big jar means lots of trapped air. Match the container to the amount.

Avoid plastic baggies for anything longer than a day or two. They let in air and can crush buds.

Cool, dark and dry

Pick a spot that stays at normal room temperature or a little cooler and out of direct light. A drawer or cabinet away from the stove, dishwasher, windows and heating vents works for most people. Keep it out of the car, where temperatures swing hard. And keep all hemp products stored securely, out of reach of kids and pets.

Humidity: keep it moderate

You don't need a lab setup. A commonly cited target for stored flower is a relative humidity of roughly 55 to 65 percent. Below that, flower tends to get dry and crumbly. Well above it, the risk of mold goes up.

If you store flower for more than a few weeks, a two-way humidity pack sized for your jar is an easy way to stay in that range. Follow the pack maker's directions. If you ever see fuzzy spots, white or gray webbing, or a musty smell, don't smoke it.

Pre-rolls: keep them in the tube

Pre-rolls dry out faster than whole buds because the flower is already ground. A few habits help:

  • Keep each pre-roll in its tube until you use it.
  • Store tubes lying flat or upright in a closed box, not loose in a bag where they bend.
  • After a partial smoke, let it cool fully, then return it to its tube. Our guide on how to smoke a hash hole covers putting one out cleanly.
  • Buying several at once? See how to stock up on pre-rolls for tips on rotating through them.

Diamond-infused pre-rolls and hash holes follow the same rules. Keep them cool so the infused material doesn't soften or get sticky.

Handle Sno Caps gently

THCA Sno Caps are THCA flower dusted in THCA isolate. That dusting is part of the product, so treat it with care:

  • Don't shake the container.
  • Use clean, dry fingers or tweezers to pick buds out.
  • Keep the container upright and sealed.
  • Any isolate that settles at the bottom is still part of what you bought.

What not to do

Don't Why
Store in the fridge Temperature changes each time you open it can cause condensation and moisture problems.
Store in the freezer Frozen trichomes turn brittle and can snap off when handled.
Leave it near heat Stoves, vents, dashboards and sunny windows dry flower out and can make it harsh.
Use clear containers in the light Light exposure is widely reported to degrade flower over time.
Leave tubes or bags open Air exposure dries flower and fades aroma.

FAQ

How do I store pre-rolls so they stay fresh?

Keep each one in its sealed tube, somewhere cool, dark and dry. Close the cap firmly after every use and keep tubes from getting bent or crushed.

Should I put flower in the fridge or freezer?

No. Fridges can cause condensation, and freezing can make trichomes brittle. A cool cabinet or drawer is a better choice.

What humidity should I store flower at?

A commonly cited range is roughly 55 to 65 percent relative humidity. A two-way humidity pack can help keep a jar in that range.

How long does flower stay fresh?

It depends on storage. Sealed, cool and dark storage slows the changes, but flower does age. Check the batch COA on our lab results page for details on the batch you bought.

Why is there powder at the bottom of my Sno Caps?

Some THCA isolate can settle during shipping and handling. That's normal. Handle Sno Caps gently to keep as much dusting on the buds as you can.
