What Is a Hash Hole?

Picture a regular joint. Now picture a rope of hash or concentrate laid down the middle of it, end to end, before it gets rolled. That is a hash hole. The name comes from the way the concentrate core looks when you peek at the end of a lit roll: a little ring, or "hole," of hash glowing in the center.

Hash holes started as a craft move in legal cannabis markets, where rollers pressed hash into a thin tube and centered it in the paper by hand. Now they are one of the most talked-about pre-roll formats, and they are the crown jewel of the Totally Baked hash hole collection.

How a Hash Hole Is Built

  1. The core: concentrate or hash is shaped into a thin, even rod.
  2. The flower: ground flower is packed around the core so it stays centered.
  3. The roll: everything is wrapped in paper and finished with a tip or filter.
  4. The upgrade: on our hash holes, THCA diamonds (crystalline isolate) are added for a diamond-infused finish.

The centered core matters. When it is off-center, it can burn unevenly. When it is dead center, the flower around it acts like a sleeve, and the burn stays slow and steady.

What Makes a Good Hash Hole?

Not all hash holes are created equal. A good one has a core that is centered and runs the full length of the roll, so you are not getting all flower at the start and all concentrate at the end. The flower should be ground evenly and packed firmly enough to hold the core in place, but not so tight that it is a workout to pull. Finally, the batch should be backed by a real lab report, so you know exactly what is inside.

How to Smoke a Hash Hole

Hash holes burn differently than standard joints, so a little technique goes a long way.

  • Toast the tip first. Rotate the end over the flame to get an even cherry before you pull.
  • Take slow, gentle pulls. Hard pulls can make the concentrate core run hot.
  • Let it rest between hits. Hash holes tend to burn slowly and stay lit well.
  • Share it, or save it. A 2g hash hole is a lot. Snuff it out safely and come back later.
  • Start low. Take one or two puffs, then wait at least 15 minutes before deciding on more.

It is also worth knowing that federal hemp rules are changing: cannabinoids synthesized or manufactured outside the plant, which typically includes delta-8 THC and commercial THC-P, are excluded from federal hemp starting December 11, 2026 (products with cannabinoids the plant cannot naturally produce are affected from November 12).
